Shropshire Gold (Also Available in Bottles)To download the pump clip artwork, right-click here and select Save Target AsABV: 3.8% OG: 1037 Colour: Light Copper/Gold Style: Golden, with a flora aroma and a full hoppy flavour that is balanced by a crisp dry maltiness and a rich finish History: Shropshire Gold was first brewed in July 1998. We had decided that a brew was needed that could compete with the session beers produced by National brewers such as Bass as well as other local producers. We decided to make a beer that would have a rich gold colour to please the eye, a full rich flavour to make it appeal to those who preferred a stronger beer, and a pronounced hop character to please everyone! This concept obviously worked as sales have increased markedly year on year. Shropshire Gold now makes up over half the production of the brewery and is listed as the house beer in at least 40 local outlets, a testimony to a consistent product and a keen price. OracleTo download the pump clip artwork, right-click here and select Save Target AsABV: 4.0% OG: Colour: Straw Style: The intention of the hop character is to be pronounced but not all encompassing, dry but not overtly bitter and a tiny hint of sweetness to add body. Its one of the most expensive of the Salopian beers to brew as it relies heavily on expensive hops from the US. History: The creation of Oracle came about because of the employment of a new member of staff and a trip to a local pub. Jake Douglas joined the brewery in early 2008 having spent a decade at a brewery synonymous with hoppy beers; a promise was made early on to brew a beer to his taste. The trip to the pub was to try a beer of this style. The ambition was to create a balanced low gravity golden beer with a striking hop character. After a period of test brews Oracle was born. Darwin's Origin (Also Available in Bottles)To download the pump clip artwork, right-click here and select Save Target As ABV: 4.3% OG: Colour: Copper Style: Darwin's Origin is an eclectic mix of hops from across the world but this blend produces a beer that offers something to everyone. Crisp, tart, fruity and refreshing but also with a juicy malt background. History: The brainchild of Debbie here at the brewery, Darwin's Origin is the most recent addition to the Salopian core range in both cask and bottle. It was brewed to celebrate Shrewsbury's most famous son Charles Darwin. Like most additions to the permanent range of beers, Darwin's started off as a monthly special and the reaction of our customers and staff saw it replacing Abbey Gates. Hop TwisterTo download the pump clip artwork, right-click here and select Save Target AsABV: 4.5% OG: 1044 Colour: Gold Style: The palate is fresh, piercing and focused, with soft malt overtones and pronounced citrus flavours. A strong focus of taut, lemony, grapefruit on the finish which is balanced by a dry bitterness History: Hoptwister was originally brewed by us for Stourbridge based Brewers Wholesale under it’s Blackwater label and it was agreed that a beer this good should go out under the Salopian label! Our original golden 4.5%, Heaven Sent was an excellent example of a midlands style lightly hopped golden ale, however we decided that tastes were changing and that a more characterful beer was required. Hoptwister has a much more pronounced hop flavour and aroma, and a distinct ‘bite’ to it, and we felt that this was the beer to fill the niche. Lemon DreamTo download the pump clip artwork, right-click here and select Save Target As ABV: 4.5% OG: 1044 Colour: Bright Gold Style: A wheat beer very much in the modern English style - served bright and top fermented. The recipe uses a small amount of fresh lemon to compliment the citrussy flavours produced by the wheat malt. Each of the Hops used, Goldings, Saaz and Cascade add fresh lemony flavours to the brew. History: Originally Salopian was renowned (notorious?) for producing some fairly outlandish beer, usually brewed with wheat and fruit flavoured. Most of these were surprisingly well received, but mainly in speciality outlets or in bottles. Lemon Dream was devised to be far more subtle - basically a slightly lagery, lightly bittered beer with a hint of lemon. We felt that this would appeal to a broader market and this has definitely been the case, with many 'traditional' Pubs running the beer as a regular through the spring and summer. It has found favour at competitions too, winning an award at CAMRA West Midlands 4 years on the bounce as well as at SIBA West Midlands too. Golden ThreadTo download the pump clip artwork, right-click here and select Save Target As ABV: 5.0% OG: 1048 Colour: Light Gold Style: Of our core brands this has the most pronounced bitterness. A triple hopping of English First Gold gives powerful citrussy flavours and vinous aromas, however the malt grist of barley, wheat and lager gives plenty of body and sweetness which balances the assertive bitterness. History: Golden Thread is Salopian's oldest servant having originally been brewed in 1996. At that time a strong golden beer was a rarity as the current trend to golden ales had yet to escalate. Strong ales are becoming increasingly difficult to market, partly due to health and driving concerns, and partly because there are so few outstanding examples available. Golden Thread has sold consistently well because for a strong beer it is ridiculously easy to drink and because of its outstanding character - a fact backed by it winning multiple consumer awards from CAMRA, SIBA, Tesco and The English Hop association.

Salopian beers have a distinct style, they
are usually full bodied, aromatic & well balanced. The malt,
water, yeast and hops used are always sourced from the same
suppliers and the beers produced will naturally show similar
characteristics.
